简介
I am a professional ESL teacher and editor. I studied abroad in college and taught English overseas for four years before returning to the US. I am CELTA certified in TESOL, specifically for teaching adult speakers of other languages. I currently work in marketing as an editor for large businesses. I have strong skills in editing and proofreading for a variety of subjects, including English, literature, sociology, anthropology and linguistics.

I obtained certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) while attending college at the University of Delaware. After graduation, I went abroad to teach English in Japan. I have worked with all different levels of English speakers, from toddlers with limited communication skills, to high schoolers, to advanced adult speakers. The experience of living and working in a culture that was not my own, while learning to communicate in a language that was not my own, was both humbling and enlightening.
My time overseas taught me how to be sensitive to different cultures and values. Part of my job was to help students craft applications and prepare for study abroad programs, English contests, international colleges, and other multicultural undertakings. In the process, I had to balance what they wanted to say (based on Japanese values) with what would help them succeed (based on American values). It was incredibly educational.
After I returned to the states, I decided that the in-depth, one-on-one experience of helping individuals achieve their goals was what I really wanted to pursue. I worked as a research assistant at Columbia University in New York for a while, where I got to become familiar with the internal academic process and editing in academia. I'm currently working with writers for major online companies, editing and advising on marketing copy.
My purpose is to use my skills to help you create smooth, clean pieces that seamlessly integrate your experience and goals while showcasing your skills.
